Program Profile

The Master of Finance (MoF) program trains top-notch financial professionals, and cultivates future financial leaders with advanced knowledge in economics and finance. Students develop a global vision for rapidly changing financial markets. The program prepares students for careers in regulation, research, investment banking, securities modeling and trading, and corporate finance.

Program Features

Perspectives from academia and industry
Our instructors include faculties from Tsinghua SEM and professors from premier universities in the world. A substantial portion of the courses are taught by executives and directors from leading investment banks, commercial banks, private equity and venture capital firms, and financial regulatory authorities.
Bridging academia and financial markets
The SEM arranges an academic advisor and an industry mentor for every student. Academic advisors provide guidance on study and thesis. Industry mentors help to bridge education and career development, and help students with internship and employment.
Balancing global vision and individual needs
The MoF program has dual-degree programs with HEC Paris, the Hass School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley and Columbia University. Our program tailors education to students' needs with concentrations in Global Finance, Fintech, Entrepreneurship and Corporate Finance, and Investment and Insurance.

I am very lucky to meet so many friends in MoF program. From Shanghai to Beijing, from Jiaotong University to Tsinghua, I have learned about different cultures and harvested different experience. In next two years, I hope that I can really touch the spiritual core of this school, under the tag of Tsinghua SEM. I will make my progress step by step, following the instruction of the masters. I want to share my ideas with my fellow students and accumulate knowledge and experience at the same time.

Tsinghua SEM is a big family, where I can share ideas and beliefs with my classmates. Here I have been affected by various Tsinghua characteristics, and more importantly, SEM is a good platform for students to explore a boarder world.

The cooperation of Tsinghua and Columbia University is a win-win and has a great effect on my job-hunting and company business expanding. I have the opportunity of learning and working in both Beijing and New York, which helps me to gain a professional business acumen and judging ability, as well as solid skills of technology and statistics analysis, which have a deep influence on my career development.

Since the first semester began, the school was actively working on allocating industry tutors for us and arranging simulated interviews in relevant categorized fields. Teachers were actively recommending us to different internship opportunities. Take my classmates who work in Shanghai as examples, some go to a leading Trust company in China, and one has become a seller research fellow in Shanghai's biggest fund company. One classmate works in a top wealth management platform in China, and one chose a start-up company. The employment choices are much more diversified in comparison to that in undergraduate study, and we have much more options now.

Financial Engineering The Tsinghua SEM – Berkeley double major program of Financial Engineering is the top one Financial Engineering program in the world. I am delighted to be admitted into this program. I was not trained as Finance major in my undergraduate education and during the six months in Tsinghua SEM, I was under much pressure. But I know that I was making progress every day. SEM provides us with systematic training of financial knowledge as well as training of practical job-hunting skills. Both have played important roles in my application for the double major program of Berkeley.

I am pleased to be able to join the family of SEM MoF program! Come here for more than ten days, and I have several feelings. My friends are very diversified with different personalities and strengths, and I can always learn something when communicating with them; the Master of Finance program is internationalized, including not only exchange, double degree, and also all kinds of high-end lectures; besides, the CDC of SEM is very powerful, and the teachers will recommend internships and experience sharing for us, which I had never experienced in my undergraduate life. The above three points make me believe that the platform of Tsinghua SEM will be the most powerful support for our future career.

Tsinghua MoF program has a complete training system, from micro to macro, local to global, and can give all-round training for our professional foundation. In addition, the school provides us with the opportunity to communicate abroad and pursue a double degree, which helps us broaden our horizons and increase our experience. At the same time, college CDC provides us with a systematic and professional job direction through interviews, analysis, resume modification, etc. More importantly, the program gives me the opportunity to get acquainted with sweet friends from different colleges and universities, which will undoubtedly enrich my life in the university.

Tsinghua MoF program opened its mysterious veil at the beginning of September. In the program, I have made a lot of good friends. They all have their own insights into the financial industry, and move towards a clear goal continuously. At the same time, the faculty provides us with meticulous help about elective courses,career guidance,life arrangements and other aspects,which become a solid backup force for our growth. I believe that my two years in this program will be very memorable, and I will become a better self.

I still remember that after reading the email, I made the decision of applying for the Paris HEC double master program of Finance. Seen from now, it is a right decision. During the eight months, I have learned a lot. HEC is a free place where students can choose suitable majors and directions according to our own preference and employment intentions. The curriculum is reasonable, combining theories with applications, intersecting basic knowledge with practice. The school offers us all-round resources and helps everyone to get a job. For example, as the term begun, every student of MIF program went to London to visit major financial organizations. The following program office has helped us with our resume revising, model interviews, experience sharing and so on. And all the work has contributed to my application for JP Morgan in the summer holiday.
