On the afternoon of November 2, 2017, Tsinghua SEM MoF program info session for Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and international students has been successfully held in 501 Room, Weilun Building. The session systematically introduced the overall situation of Tsinghua University and SEM, and enrollment policy for Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and international students, providing an exchange platform for applicants and SEM MoF program. Director of Tsinghua SEM MoF Dual Degree Program, and representatives from Graduate Admission Office and Graduate Students Scholarships and Grants Office have participated in. This is the very first time that SEM MoF program set an info session for Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and international students.
Ms. Ren Hui, the Assistant Director of Tsinghua SEM Master’s programs office, as the host of the explanation session, first welcomed all present attendants who came from various countries and areas and introduced the schedule followed. Ms. Pan Shuai, recruitment manager for Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and international students of Graduate Admission Office, Professor Wang Hao, MoF Dual Degree Program Director and Liu Leike, from Graduate Students Scholars and Grants Office continued to introduce the history and development of Tsinghua University and SEM as well as the cultivation system, supporting resources, career development, scholarships and other details of MoF program.

A University with Centurial History and Profound Culture
Ms. Pan Shuai first introduced the history of Tsinghua University and the reasons for choosing Tsinghua. Tsinghua University was founded in 1911, so far with more than 100 years of history. At present, with 20 schools and 57 departments, Tsinghua has become a comprehensive research university with disciplines of sciences, technologies, literatures, arts, history, philosophy, economics, management, laws, education, medicines and so on. In the latest release of the QS world university rankings, Tsinghua University ranked 25th. Its excellent academic ability and teaching standard have attracted more than 3500 international students from 128 countries. The increasingly internationalized and diversified campus has enhanced the comprehensive strength of Tsinghua university.

International Perspectives and Practice Orientated
The international perspective is a major feature of Tsinghua SEM MoF program. The school provides rich and diverse overseas exchange and dual degree programs for the students. Professor Wang Hao mentioned that Tsinghua University and HEC Paris, the Berkeley University of California, Columbia University in the United States are dual degree cooperation partners. SEM also shares exchange and learning resources with other dozens of overseas universities and institutes and offering a platform as well as adequate resources to enhance students’ international vision and global competency. MoF program has specially designed a course called China Financial Practice Class, covering practice in financial frontier areas such as the buyer investment, the seller institutions, the Internet Finance, the industry analysis, in order to provide practice orientated platform for students during their school years.
Career development and occupational planning are the common concerns of the students. Wang Hao said that SEM attaches great importance to the cultivation of students' vocational skills and the establishment of future development planning. Broad platform and rich resources of enterprises and alumni have brought a lot of convenience to students for their internships, employment, and so on. The employment of graduates covers all areas of the financial industry, and the average annual salary has reached 298,000 yuan.
In addition, in order to encourage and help Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and international students to study in Tsinghua, Ms. Liu Leike, from Scholarships and Grants Management Office introduced rich scholarship resources such as Chinese Government Scholarship, Beijing International Students Scholarships and details of the application process and matters needing attention. Ms. Liu Leike indicated that Tsinghua University will use the existing rich resources to help each student's learning and growth. Then, Ms. Ren Hui gave an overall explanation of the scholarships and grants for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students.

Colorful life with Diversity and Openness
Rich and colorful campus life is also a big attraction to the students. Janice Zhu, from Canada, a SEM MoF student of 2016, shared her campus life in Tsinghua University with students. The diversified campus environment has made her acquainted with many friends from different countries. The mutual help and friendship have become her best memory in the past year. Lucas Zhou, from Hong Kong, a SEM MoF student of 2016, introduced his achievements and thoughts from three aspects of academic environment, career development and recreational activities. Lucas mentioned that the school's teaching feature is the combination of theories and local actual cases, thus forming unique insights into the Chinese market. Alex He, also from Canada, a SEM MoF alumnus of 2017, shared his internship experience in Chinese enterprise, and mentioned that SEM’s teaching mode as a combination of theories and practice helped him a lot and he also talked about his work visa application experience in China.

School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, founded in 1984, with missions to “advance knowledge and cultivate leaders for China and the world”, has cultivated numerous students who are playing important roles in different fields. In the future, SEM will continue to attract talented people from all over the world, to well perform the school characteristics of "high-end positioning, strong faculty, and internationalization” and to provide more high-quality academic training and practice platform for students. Tsinghua SEM MoF program, based on such a platform, is specialized and targeted to train the top talents for the financial industry.
After the meeting, a Hong Kong student from Renmin University said, “This explanation deepened my understandings about Tsinghua University, and I wish I could be able to study in such an environment. The educational concept and rich resources of SEM can benefit me for life." After the explanation session, Leonardo Qian, a student from Brazil and currently the junior student of the School of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University, expressed that this would help him to reflect on what he needs to complement and improve for the next period. He also said, “I feel lucky as well as lots of pressure for I still have a year to prepare.”
“As Mr. Schwarzman said that China is no longer an extracurricular. It’s a core curriculum. We hope that this campus will not only become a new starting point for students to discover China, but also the world in the near future,” Ms. Ren Hui concluded at the end of the event.
